Severe Weather Outbreak Possible

Violent, long-track tornadoes, 60-80 mph wind gusts and large hail are all possible today as the Storm Prediction Center has issued a moderate risk (4/5, red) across Ohio and Kentucky, along with an enhanced risk (3/5, orange) stretching all the way to Atlanta and Birmingham. Meteorologist Matthew Cappucci times out the storms and breaks down the intricacies of the setup.

Clear blue sky ahead of a Moderate Risk across western Ohio. Moisture return and daytime heating is ramping up the potential for this afternoon!

@JordanHallWX

A widespread severe weather outbreak is possible today across the Midwest and the South.

Tornadoes, a few strong, damaging straight-line winds and destructive hail, in some spots bigger than golf balls, are anticipated.

We'll have our critical briefing out shortly.

A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Kentucky and Tennessee until 3 PM CDT

We think here at MyRadar that our own Matt Cappucci maybe has a future in children's programming

Multiple radar sites (including those in the Midwest) went down around 4 am.

This outage appeared to be upstream of us. KVWX outage was, for example, from 3:50 AM to 4:50 AM eastern.

Hamster Note:

This is my promise to CoSo.

I don't think our Meteorology team would EVER do an April Fools joke on the weather...

But if they did, I promise you, this hamster would NOT repeat it here on CoSo.

😎☀️1 week left and the forecast is keeping us on our toes!

Perhaps most concerning is this bullseye on the Tornado Outlook for TOMORROW from the
@NWSSPC.

The red color signifies a 15-29% chance of tornadoes.

The hatched lines add a 10% or greater chance for a significant (EF2+) tornado.

The SPC isn't mincing words as they're calling for "a potentially substantial severe weather outbreak -- possibly including a few significant/long-track tornadoes -- is evident for Tuesday afternoon and evening."

Simply put, if you live in Ohio and the surrounding states, BE WEATHER AWARE tomorrow.

The @NWSSPC has just upgraded TOMORROW'S severe risk to Moderate risk (4/5, red) for parts of most of Ohio and parts of West Virginia, Indiana and Kentucky.

A hail-driven Moderate Risk has been issued by the
@NWSSPC
across Oklahoma with an Enhanced Risk extending up through Illinois.

Threats today include:
Tornadoes (some strong)🌪️
Destructive hail up to softballs 🥎Damaging wind

Here is an update from
@JordanHallWX
