Northeast Drenching

A significant rainstorm is soaking the Northeast with widespread rain totals of between 2 and 4 inches. Wind and coastal flood impacts are ongoing as well. MyRadar meteorologist Matthew Cappucci has a quick update.

Cape Cod – be *inside*, off the roads and away from trees.

Noon update: a squall line with serious 60-70+ mph gusts is blasting through eastern Massachusetts.

This band of “thunderless thunderstorms is just tall enough to feel the jet stream, mixing extra momentum to the surface.

Damaging gusts about to worsen.

Breaking: the Blue Hill Observatory, which sits at 635 feet elevation just southwest of Boston, just gusted to 90 mph.

Widespread gusts of 60-70 mph closer to sea level.
