Why so much frosting on cupcakes? The cake is the real star here.

A little, SPECIFIC FLAVORED, frosting on red velvet, carrot or german chocolate cake is great.

But a mountain of uninspired, sugary paste heaped on, is a travesty. Cake is great as it is! Cupcakes are like a form of forced portion control.

@Absinthe This fits into my issue with most 'toppings' and sauces. Why, dear god why, so people think drenching the main component of a dish in an extraordinary amount of sauce or icing?? Why would I want the sauce on my chicken parmy to completely overpower the taste of the actual chicken?? Why do I need the icing to overpower the cake?? It just doesnt make sense.
