Washington state is pretty accommodating when it comes to unusual building types in an off-grid sense. Most places you can build a shipping container house or Hobbit hole- there aren’t a ton of prohibitions.

This needs to be the norm nationally. We’re so screwed in the head when it comes to what we accept as a home.

@MookyTroubadour It's very convenient when we make it so that the only people who can build a home are people with lots of money. Too bad they only make homes for people with lots of money.

I've lived in caves. Tents. Tipis. Yurts. Lean-tos. Adobe and mud and sod huts. Stone castles. Bushes. And some of these modern houses are just crap that won't stay up long either.

I feel like we're not seeing regulations for safety, but to prevent participation.

@MookyTroubadour We have the technology to make good, cheap homes. It's not primitive times.
