If Trump is still this far behind in the polls by Sept 10th, he’ll have no choice but to try debating Kamala and hope for the best.
If Trump does back out of the debate, it’ll mean he’s surrendering.To be clear, Trump will keep threatening to pull out because that’s his strategy. He’s hoping to force some kind of concessions about moderators or format. He always does this. Then he shows.
But if he actually fails to show, it’ll be a full scale surrender.
And she's not going to be making any "concessions" on a debate he already AGREED to.

I actually think he's managed to talk himself into believing that Harris is "dumb" and "has a very low IQ" and is going to go into this thinking he has it in the bag.
He won't be pleased with how things work out, I imagine.

He can threaten all he wants. Nobody really cares.
Harris already made her position clear: she's going to be there on the 10th, and if he shows up, she'll debate him. If not, she'll have the time slot to herself.
And she's not discussing any further debates unless and until he shows up on the 10th.
