Are there problems? Yes. But believe it or not it’s actually been worse. A representative beat a senator nearly to death in Congress. Literally IN Congress.

At the heart of this is that the Framers of the Constitution did NOT want one party running things, but instead a government that compromises — the idea being that it would result in a better form of government. They had their fill of authoritarian government and saw how that failed.
I would argue a parliament would have worked better than our jackassed system but I had yet to be born 😬
For the most part they didn’t anticipate disenfranchisement, gerrymandering…
