Analysis: 'Attack' on ship in Red Sea appears to be 'opportunist' strike
Our military analyst Sean Bell has been reacting to the breaking news we brought you in our last post.
He says it appears to be the Yemeni Houthis that are "responsible for the attack" and it is worth noting that they have been "carrying out attacks on all sorts of shipping in the region".
The Houthis are backed by Iran - an enemy of Israel and supporter of Hamas - and control most of Yemen's Red Sea coast.
America, on the other hand, supports Israel in its battle against Hamas.
"This is part of the escalation. It doesn't look like a strategic escalation, this appears to be an opportunist attack at the moment because drones are relatively easy to come by, and they can be very effective," Bell says.
"It is a worrying headline to come out."
The Pentagon said it is aware of reports a US warship and other commercial vessels have come under attack in the Red Sea.
It came after the UK's Maritime Trade Operations agency said it had received reports of a drone attack in the Red Sea's Bab al-Mandab strait.
However another part says: The pentagon has replied with "We're aware of reports regarding attacks on the USS Carney and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and will provide information as it becomes available," it added.

I watched early news this morning and nothing was mentioned about an attack on a Navy boat.
I do not believe anything the Pentagon states. I fear this is a way to draw America into another war we have no business being in😞
