Something I am now realizing is just how common back pain is, i.e.: very. My physical therapist is using exercises from a course of treatment called the "McKenzie method," which does seem to be helping.

Several CoSonauts replied to my previous post about back pain management saying that they managed their back pain with exercise. If you care to say more, I'd love to learn more about what you're doing. I'm finding that self-management is key.

I have Degenerative Disk Disease. 2 lower Back sugeries. Was taking NSAIDS until that caused a GI bleed. Sometimes exercise can cause pain. For muscle and bone aches I take codeine sulfate.
For inflamed nerve pain I take Gabapentin. Together, these 2 meds work very well. Pain is rarely above 2 on a 10 scale. Just need lots of fluids. Codeine can cause major plumbing backups.
