is there anything that says a 501(c)3 cannot pay it's board members? i'm pretty sure PETA, whose board members make 6 & 7 figure incomes is run as a 501(c)3

just asking because some local guy has a stick up his butt over a local dog rescue... and i think he's wrong

Generally, board member compensations are capped at 600 dollars, more than that they have to get a 1099. But yes, board members can be paid. As @SandHillThicket stated, the rules vary by state.

One of the cool things about 501c3 is that their financials are public. It's easily discoverable. Sounds like someone is on the purple drank.
