My "favorite" person of the week:
Pissed off about gas prices and "woke" Disney, at a gas station, filling up their mini-van for leg 1 of a trip to, you guessed it, Disney.
Meanwhile - we canceled our FL vacation (planned 6 months ago, our first "adult" trip in years). We told our airbnb host the truth, "we're sorry to cancel, but we don't feel comfortable bringing our money to your state".
You can protest in words, or in deeds, your choice. But deeds speak volumes.
Me trying to get my parents to understand this is why I won't come down to visit them. They don't agree with the politics, but yet they tolerate it "for the climate".

I hate to say it but I understand where they are coming from. There is nothing my family wants more right now than to re-locate. But - until our in state college-bound student establishes his own residency (it two years) we are stuck here because of the resident tuition discount. If we left we lose our residency and his tuition would bankrupt us. There are 100 other reasons we want out of here.
Nor should anyone feel like they need to "just move" out of a place. My parents retired there, and I'm okay with that. My unwillingness to travel there started with DeathSantis' COVID "response", and my hatred for him and his cronies has only gotten worse. I can't even think about the state without getting angry. My parents are at risk because of this garbage.

I get it. If we didn't live where we live, we would never come here. I want to get my daughter out of this hell hole as soon as possible, before they start passing laws about who can travel and when, because that's coming too.
