I'm glad we have Juneteenth, I'm a little confused about its celebration. Emancipation was proclaimed in 1862. Texas refused and didn't tell the slaves there they were free for three more years. Even then it took federal troops arriving in Galveston to take control of Texas and forces them to accept emancipation, that happened on June 19th 1865.
I celebrate it only as remembrance of the ending of an injustice that never should have been.
(Yes, Tx has always been a bad seed)
