Look at how it works in both contexts. In the Russian frame of reference: "They will kill political opponents - just like we do." But, projecting to Americans: "We'll help you. We're your friends. You should like us." ...while they continue to commit war crimes.

Russians believe Americans, especially MAGA cultists are deeply stupid I mean, hell...they actually helped to elect Trump in 2016 in a big way.
