If they'd actually done any sort of research on the subject whatsoever, they'd have chosen a form of respiratory protection that actually *works* instead of that useless "infection control theatre" trash. 'Course they clearly care more about virtue signalling anyway...

@LiberalLibrarian There is a difference between fear and a rational distaste for the idea of having lifelong cardiovascular, respiratory, and brain damage, alongside long-lasting impairment of the immune system via (among other mechanisms) T cell depletion. Which was *always* the real problem with COVID.
Cloth/surgical masks aren't very good for hiding one's identity either. Nor are they very creative. Bandannas, Guy Fawkes masks, balaclavas... there are loads of better options.
