@erynalyson Public librarianship was NOT my goal. But 2008 happened, I got in just before the hiring freeze, and well, 14 years later here I am. I'll be 15 years in next May.
@LiberalLibrarian Out of college with a Politics degree and got a job as a legislative clerk and 26 years and MLIS later, I am in the same place! I didn't start out to be a librarian either. I love my job but working in a non-partisan office has me stifled. Retirement in less than 10years!
@RationalLeft @LiberalLibrarian I came here to say this. But I knew in my heart that it had already been said.
Doesn't this sign imply that the search for knowledge leads to power-hungry corruption??
I'm not sure that's the messaging we want to be sendng to the younglings...I mean, the GQP and faux news has that covered already.
Just sayin'.
I still don't want ants in the library.
@LiberalLibrarian We need this in my university library, but for mice. Yes, we have a cafe in the building, why do you ask?
@LiberalLibrarian I'm so glad I work in a non-public law library. The trials and tribs of public librarianship is not one I have the stomach for on so many levels. I have only volunteered, and it was a lot. But at the same time, you really get to help those in need of resources and learning.
