@LiberalEffects all I know is they better not cut SS until they cut all postoffice and railroad pensions because every one of those was subsidized by federal tax money!S S was taken out of company profits that could of gone in employee pockets!

And my understanding about SS is that there is a separate Social Security Trust Fund that all of us have been paying into since we started working.
The billionaire class wants to get rid of SS because they don't want to spend a single penny on anything they don't directly benefit from, and they also want to steal every penny they can from the Gov.

@Oldguyaz Yea, I remember a lot of that, I was in my 20's during Reagan, not only did he cut SS for the reasons you mentioned he started taxing it. If memory serves around that time they also started cutting Medicare, then Dubya Bush sold it out to ultra-greedy insurance companies.
@LiberalEffects simple fact if they took the cap off income and taxed all earnings think the cap is $165,000 and people had to pay that 6% plus their employer had to also pay !Remember after that amount your check goes up 6% but your employer also saves that 6% and you get nothing for it!If the cap we’re gone and the senate put the 2 trillion takeout by Regan SS would be solvent and most folks would see an increase of 1/3 more my guess I could be wrong by not by much! 12% of say 44 billion ?
