If you had a lunchbox as a kid, and if you take a second to imagine that lunchbox, can you still smell the inside?

(Mine was Wags & Whiskers. And I can smell it.)

I don’t think Harry Nilsson gets enough attention for being as free and creative and adventurous as he was with his sound. youtu.be/TsSuueEGQSM

Footage of George Santos in government buildings is almost as laughably absurd as footage of Trump in the Oval Office or on Air Force One. Almost.

Is anyone watching That '90s show, and is it as bad as the trailer makes it look?

And: why are so many producers averse to new material? There are so many fresh stories floating around that they could draw from, but they rehash everything (poorly) instead, figuring, "It worked once..." (and forgetting it worked because it was fresh and new at the time).

They were talking today about people returning to flip phones, and I remembered I still have my gunmetal Razr somewhere. I LOVE that phone. (Also have my lame little sprint cellphone, my very first cell. Call me sentimental.)

Pick one favorite feeling:

- The pain going away (tooth, headache, something not chronic)

- Finding the wallet you thought you lost

If someone says, "I've never (done that thing/met that person/killed someone) in my life," they have definitely done that thing, met that person, or killed someone.

Watching Jerry Maguire is always stressful. The awkwardness in that movie is so successfully palpable that I watch it the same way I watch the flesh eating scenes in Walking Dead.

“Do you really believe. . . that everything historians tell us about men – or about women – is actually true? You ought to consider the fact that these historians have been written by men, who never tell the truth except by accident..” – Moderata Fonte, sixteenth-century Venetian writer & poet

Whoever won that $1B jackpot is having the most fun conversation right now.

Very excited about this! It's been more than a few years in the making. Coming this Feb.

When you think it's the height of fun, and not a hassle, to help someone take 36 words out of their letter to the editor because it's 36 words over the 300-word limit, you might be a writing nerd.

Is anyone an expert on public domain works? I’d like to quote a passage from an 1818 essay by Sir Walter Scott as part of the front matter in my forthcoming novel and just want to make sure the 100-years-since-death policy safely applies.

“She’s not just stable, she’s inert.” - The Four Seasons

The Four Seasons (written & directed by Alan Alda) is a popular-on-Netflix movie right now. Highly recommend. And I just realized, watching it with coffee, that foodies will appreciate it, too!

What series have you rewatched?

I tried Breaking Bad, which I loved the first time, but it doesn’t have the *thing* that’ll hold me captive through it a second time. May try the “cocksucker!” show (I always forget what it’s cal—Deadwood!)

Let us remember that Judy Blume also wrote WIFEY. Complex women writers can explore the range from childhood to full-blown sexual creature. ❤️
