The James Webb Space Telescope has smashed its own record for detecting the most distant known galaxy.
Called JADES-GS-z14-0, the collection of stars was spied as it was a mere 290 million years after the Big Bang.

took some imagines of the Crab nebula. Rami Mandow founder of spaceaustralia.com/ did some processing of the data.

see those horizontal plane rings? - that’s caused by the pulsar’s magnetosphere and rotation. It dumps A LOT of energy into the surrounding nebula.

The pulsar itself is tiny, only ~20km across, but it illuminates its surroundings 33 times per second and we can see its effect 6523 light years away 🤯

has detected Galaxies that existed only 325 Million years after the big bang. Or 2% of the current age of the universe. These Galaxies are metal poor, and pushing into an epoch when complex elements like carbon, oxygen and nitrogen had yet to be forged

The team released these images of Saturn’s moon .
Images were taken by the NIRCam instrument on Nov. 4, 2022. Image on the left uses a single 2.12 μm filter sensitive to Titan’s lower atmosphere. Image on the right is a composite using filters at 1.4, 1.5 , 1.99 and 2.09 μm.
Several prominent surface features are labeled: Kraken Mare is thought to be a methane sea; Belet is composed of dark-colored sand dunes; Adiri is a bright albedo feature.

Press update today. Lots of good info. Key point is after impact there will be optical observatories around the gloobe, including

detection of the change in Dimorphos' orbit around Didymos will be done by optical telescopes watching mutual eclipses of the two bodies. Just measuring light from the pair.

Truely an international mission

Webb turns its eye close to home by capturing its first image of Neptune, revealing the ice giant planet in a whole new light. This is the clearest view of this peculiar planet’s rings and moons in more than 30 years

Okay.. enough screaming into the void.

Have not seen this in the firehose. But the new fancy telescope is also good at look at things in our own solar system, and can detect Jupiter's faint ring, and moons
