Good morning,
I have the wisdom of an 8 day old here on CounterSocial, so take this FWIW...
You can try to find friends and you will find some. Instead of making myself insane (for 3 days) I decided to follow the "Community Firehose."
I clicked on posts I liked. I would check out the profiles and posts and, if they looked compatible - I followed.
This will be a thread and I am not sure how those work yet, so you will have to go to my profile and click on this post to see the next one - 1/
Being a #TwitterRefuge I assumed people would follow back. That is not how it works here. It is not an insult.
Algorithms are not "a thing" here.
It is genuinely about who you WANT to follow, not about who you WANT to follow you. It is REALLY hard to wrap your mind around that concept when our egos are so attached to numbers.
At my peak, I had around 56.7k followers. This has been humbling AF, but I am growing to accept this.
This is not Twitter, so get that out of your head.

@CajunBlueAZ1 I love that you are ok with that. Íve been watching people who care about followers come in for a day and leave. Mostly bluechecks
@CajunBlueAZ1 I totally get that. It was important for me when I was taking care of my dying mother a few years ago. I also need a big platform elsewhere to raise money for the indigenous NGO I work with in Guatemala.
