@CinnamonGirlE

my band opened for the Grass Roots one night in about 1980

not a very memorable evening

@tgraph52 @CinnamonGirlE I saw then around 1971, when they were pretty close to their peak. They put on a good show. However, most of their recordings were the work of the Wrecking Crew. It was Carol Kay who played the bass intro of "Midnight Confessions".
The band you saw in 1980 was a completely different group of people from the ones that had the 1967-72 hits.

@KamloopsBob

The only original Root was the drummer. We played the 1 and 3 sets and they did 2 and 4. They played the same 13 songs in the same order both sets and their encore was the song they opened both sets with. And the fans went wild!!!! ๐Ÿ˜œ

Follow

@tgraph52 @CinnamonGirlE I've had a "Midnight Confession" ear worm for much of the last 24 hours, and I'm holding you two responsible.
td, did that drummer do a solo where he was beating his sticks on the stage floor, mike stands, and anything else he could reach? That was cool.
