I watched the SOTU this morning instead of live. My takeaway;
The Speaker is not in control of anything that happens in the house,
Republicans made a not unexpected spectacle of themselves,
President Biden was invited to the House to speak to a joint session of Congress but the crafty politician sent #darkbrandon in his place,
DarkBrandon OWNED the GQP!
Republicans now want to raise the debt ceiling until September 30th. Democrats should decline this short term effort. GOP wants to change the narrative from "the debt ceiling is about paying for things we already legislated". By waiting until fiscal year end the can make it about "spending".
Democrats should fight this battle now instead of waiting.
How incompetent are Biden attorneys, staff, etc? Documents were found originally in November. It's now late January and more classified documents were found. No one has been able to look through documents for 2 1/2 months?! Seriously?
So I spent 45 minutes today trying to decipher medicare part a b and d. Here's what I learned.
1 medicare guidance is confusing
2 there are plenty of people who will try to sell you insurance
3 part a is free to most people
4 part b is never free and may or may not be required depending on your situation and there may or may not be irs fines if you don't get
I have no idea why people get frustrated with our government.

I wonder how federal employees will be disciplined for mishandling classified documents in the future? Our current and former president were not concerned with correctly following procedures. I wonder if Obama has had a look in his file cabinets yet? Hard to enforce rules that leaders don't follow.

That would probably get him to 213 votes for speaker with every republican but Qevin opposing it.

How many times are republicans going to punch themselves in the face today before they recess and regroup? This is the most entertaining political event I can remember.
0-5, poor Qevin. Keeps getting nominated but not convincing anyone else to vote for him.
I wonder if Kevin McQarthy has moved out of the speakers office after prematurely moving in?
GQP infighting over the speaker of the house is the cherry on top of this holiday season.
With the supreme court complaining again about their own safety we have another article covering the court. It seems that businesses appearing before the court are also donating millions to the supreme court historical society. Nothing suspicious about that at all.

Not to be a downer while we wait for the full committee report but I was less than impressed with the format of the “executive summary”. This didn’t look like a summary to my eyes. Right after the title page they began a dump of information, testimony and repeat of things we were shown.
It’s good information but doesn’t appear to be a summary at all and doesn’t follow any type of organized format that I can discern.
Rant over.
I think the main purpose of the referrals to DOJ by the J6C is not to pressure them to indict. The purpose is to have the American public pressure DOJ to indict. The people need to speak. Indict these insurrectionists. Prosecute the planners and most importantly the one who stood to benefit had the attempt succeeded.

Another story of white christian nationalists. This is what we are facing.
People are 2 ready to declare victory after the midterms red wave was defeated. Unfortunately, we still have a huge problem in the US. A large % of voters are still supporting fascist candidates. We don’t educate our children to think for themselves, we prepare them to be good workers. Half of the country cannot read above the 6th grade level.
There is so much to fix to save our democracy.
Kind of funny, very sad. Reminder of some of the things trump has done.
