Few bands screamed niche or gimmick as much as Beirut, and I was initially put off by their whole "thing." Turns out, though, that I couldn't resist their charm and really got into them for a while. I go back when I need the nostalgia or to remind myself of the magic that can happen when someone commits to their artistic vision. I hope they make more music.
