Go from me, summer friends, and tarry not:
I am no summer friend, but wintry cold,
A silly sheep benighted from the fold,
A sluggard with a thorn-choked garden plot.
Take counsel, sever from my lot your lot,
Dwell in your pleasant places, hoard your gold;
Lest you with me should shiver on the wold,
Athirst and hungering on a barren spot…

Christine Rosetti

Historically human beings use stories to explore our place in the world: we tell stories about it. Sometimes they’re scientific stories. Sometimes they’re philosophical stories. Sometimes they’re songs or movies. Sometimes they’re fables or morality tales. We need to tell new stories...

Listen. The Otherworld is close, this threshold day between this and that, between the memories that haunt and the visions that bewitch our better selves into being. Here, our beloved dead meet us in our daydreams and bestow their quiet bounty. The wild hunt rides the October wind and bends the branches in our direction. We wait. We wonder. We pour whiskey in the dirt for those long-gone-still-here ones. For them, this night and every night, we sing.

@Blue_Skyesr_here I love that I see you here and this shows up in one of my feeds. 🖤
