i'm looking for help w/ an upcoming dei workshop where i'm exploring 5 myths:
1) you can't say things like you used to!
2) anyone can be racist, incl black & brown peeps.
3) why are you trying to make me feel guilty for things i didn't do?
4) i don't see colour.
5) there are laws to make everyone equal.
i'd like to add cartoons, images, etc.to break up the very deep subject matter. always conscious of fragility & defensiveness so hoping to add humour.
any good stuff you can share w/ me?
@singlemaltgirl let me dive. I'll see what I have and can find.
@Jezibaba oh, this is perfect for the myth around black & brown peeps being racist.
i was already going to talk about everyone being prejudiced/bigoted but the diff is that racism is systemic. this is so helpful. thank you 🙏🏾
@Jezibaba i 💜 the call to history & that illustration is great for a point i make about who writes history & what we uncover when we actually listen to black & brown folks. i'm doing some of residential children left in mass grave sites. indigenous peeps always knew they were there. had asked for decades to make them known, for the records of where their children that never came home were. it wasn't till a band paid for ground radar & they found 200+ unmarked graves that white peeps took notice.
