A very good, thoughtful article going over various profound thoughts on when life begins. Science. Culture. Theology.

Not long ago I read an article about how koala bears can't recognize a eucalyptus leaf that's been removed from the branch. It's because their brains are not complex.
I'm beginning to wonder about dogs. Because, smart as they are, mine insists on going in an area where (if I allow it) 95% of the time she'll end up with a painful sticker in the pad of a foot.
And she LOVES Stickerville. Why?
Yes, I got the sticker out. She's fine. Now MY finger hurts.

Since no one won the gigantic lottery last night I will make the sacrifice of going to the corner store to get a ticket for my sister. I'll get one too while I'm there. Why not?
IF we were to win (more of a chance of getting struck by lightning) at least we live in a state where we can keep our identities secret.
#politics #conspiracytheories she literally can’t get the difference between someone saying I passed law school in the top 10% of my class when it was the bottom 10% of their class vs the guy that says I went to college and a master’s when he didn’t go at all.
Grade inflation, and résumé padding is a constant problem but it’s a huge difference then saying I got a law degree and never having going to law school.
She is… well everybody does it, so I don’t care and I’m going, but I do
#politics #conspiracytheories. My sister gave me a rather thick book to read, which is going to educate me about all the corruption in politics. I’ve known there’s been corruption in politics since well before Ralph Nader.
She keeps saying things, and I keep asking where’s the beef. So she wants me to read this book by a conservative operative.
I will eventually read the whole damn thing and tell her those were wasted hours that I will never get back.
#dogsofcoso I feel a bit giddy. We were supposed to have severe thunder and lightning storms for the last 2 hours. But I got in 2 walks in with my thunder and lightning aversive dog with no storms!
It wasn’t all gravy. This morning didn’t call for rain on our morning walk, but a block from home when the skies opened up on us.
We are home for the evening so it can storm the rest of the night.
An interesting article on hacktivism. I know DDoS attacks have been an issue here off and on.

This is about how Social Security is declining SSDI claims based on out-of-date job classifications.
@kel and I gotta say for everyone else who may not listen... going out in deadly cold and severe weather conditions is scary for emergency responders.
Don't like life harder for them. I got lost in the ice fog and crept up to a light and parked my rig next to it - got out and found out it was a bank time/temp so I knew where I was again.
When you can't see the side of the road with foglights on and you drive with one tire in the gravel by the side of the road to save a life get out their way
I gotta agree with @kel that if you're in a badly impacted storm area you need to STAY OFF THE ROADS.
When I lived in FBX I knew people who had to have body parts amputated from frostbite. People died. Once, an entire family.
I wore snow pants, bunny boots/mukluks, heavy fur parka with a ruff, lambskin mittens, muffler, knit hat under the parka hood, loose clothing in layers underneath. NEVER SWEAT! Sweat freezes.
If you're not an emergency responder STAY HOME.
