Since no one won the gigantic lottery last night I will make the sacrifice of going to the corner store to get a ticket for my sister. I'll get one too while I'm there. Why not?

IF we were to win (more of a chance of getting struck by lightning) at least we live in a state where we can keep our identities secret.

@J_Windrow
Never made it out yesterday to buy one. Maybe today? I do not live in a state where you could keep your ID secret. 🥲 Doubtful I would win, lol, but if I did? Have to hire security when the reveal was made in this crazy world.

@CinnamonGirlE I figure: someone eventually wins.

If you live in a state that doesn't protect identities you STILL need an estate lawyer to do the work with the lottery and the tax folks. Then have everything go into pour over trusts. If everything is tied up it makes you less of a target.

You could legit go sealed-records name change (danger to life) and relocate to Canada or something.

Lawyers know many things. A good estate planning lawyer is the ticket.

@J_Windrow Agreed. My mom loved to buy tickets, because she said "somebody has to win". I watched a special once on lottery winners and all the things they did to destroy their lives after winning. This made me consider that an attorney, accountant, financial advisor all would likely have to be employed. And not buying gold commodes and flat screen TV's in every room. 🙄
Moving to Canada? I could afford it with my grown kids and grands at that point and it could be considered.
If I win . . . 😊😉😂

@CinnamonGirlE I rarely buy a ticket. However, IF I won my first stop would be the estate attorney who would put into place all the things I'd need.

I'm a huge fan of pour-over trusts. Once the $$ came in it would pour over into various trusts. My accountant would supervise investment accounts as I trust her with my life.

I've never lusted after THINGS. I hate crowds and noise. Don't even own a TV. I would quietly relocate.

@J_Windrow I will remember your good advice if I win, lol. Doubt it will be an issue.

Things have never driven me either. The appeal of it is more what I could do for others. Or at this point, moving out of the US. I am more than happy to be home alone 99% of the time.
