#socialmedia I got curious about this post thing. So I got a throwaway addy and signed up. From what I can see it looks more like the bluebird but it's all about making money.
I've not posted. If there's a news story there's a fee.
I can go to AP and Reuters for free. Why should I pay there? Why should I want to tip someone for posting a photo of their dog?
I'm still poking around a little, but I don't see what's so great about it.
Tons better here, IMO.
@walterbays There's nothing wrong with that post place, I'm just not impressed with the hand out for everything.
Apparently, the concept is that they'll be getting micropayments to support the place. Seems to me that's an easy way to lose track of how much you're throwing at a site.
I pay for access to 2 major newspapers, 3 major magazine info sources. Post seems like a good way to nickel and dime yourself to death. JMO.
Here I know what the pro payment is. Plus, I like it here. 😀
@J_Windrow 25 years ago I thought micro payments would save journalism. It was the one non shady place crypto would have worked. Never happened. So yeah, I just subscribe to several newspapers and magazines, and block any of the rest that use a paywall.
