One of the most fascinating things to me about science is how some critics complain that scientists don't know everything, and sometimes change their minds.
As though those things are bugs, not features.
I can't quite figure out if those complaints come about because people are DISAPPOINTED that there are things we don't know, or they're unhappy with the things we do.
Reminds me of a line from Jesus Christ Superstar where Pilate sings "But what is Truth? Is Truth unchanging Law? We both have Truths. Are mine the same as your's?"
Folk want all the answers, spelled out & unchanging, so they no longer have to think. They can live on autopilot. Most are mentally lazy & therefore mediocre, at best
I prefer not having all the answers so I have to think my way through....and then experience the joy of finding something new
@JWilliams As to your last paragraph: The answer is BOTH.
@JWilliams I think part of it comes from critics not understanding that science is a constant state of exploration and investigation, and what we know changes with new discoveries. Note that no one complains as we learn more about the brain and body to improve or develop medical procedures!
