@anatman It really depends on the method used to go faster than light.

The only realistic (e.g. consistent with known theory) way to go FTL of which I'm aware is the Alcubierre warp drive. for such a system, I suppose you could seek to reconfigure the warp in a different direction. But relativity can be a really tricky thing, and it might be easier said than done (like the drive itself)...
