An incredible photograph taken in 1943 at Tyneside Shipyards, in the UK, of a woman welder with protective head gear raised from her face. In the background a ship under construction in a slipway can be seen.

Women in WW2 took on many different roles during the war, including as combatants and workers on the home front.

Millions of women of various ages were injured or died as a result of the war.

Lest We Forget.

Photograph came from Imperial War Museums. Image file number IWM DB 65.

Mary G. Harris Jones (1837 (baptized) – November 30, 1930), known as Mother Jones from 1897 onwards, was an Irish-born American labor organizer, former schoolteacher, and dressmaker who became a prominent union organizer, community organizer, and activist. She helped coordinate major strikes, secure bans on child labor, and co-founded the socialist trade union, the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW).

Why do Australians say “orientated” instead of “oriented”?

What is this?

A catch and kill variation?

And is that THE Rashida Jones?

You’ll notice that I don’t have a WSJ sub. 😉

@XaoslordErie so, what counts as “fielding” the ball, and what’s the foot-on-base allowable contact without obstructing? This doesn’t seem like a defined thing at all.
