Hey @CinnamonGirlE AKA Cinni โ
Whatโs all this about shrimp nโ grits?
We should have a cookoff.
I promise I wonโt make you listen to Mickey And Sylviaโs โLove Is Strange.โ
๐ค
@InUnfunky
You promise? That means I have to promise too, lol.
I make a low country creole version with cheese grits. Its southern and good ๐ค๐
Only if we both agree to punish ourselves via song kitsch. Yesterday was enough...for a while. heh
Recipe probs pretty similar -- shrimp get a olive oil/garlic/tom marinade w/white wine. Grits hit with more garlic, chicken stock, half/half, cheese n' butter at the end.
Anecdotal -- been in CT then SE VT since '99...and I have yet to see this "maple syrup (it's beyond fantastic, can't lie) in people's grits" travesty. So don't believe THAT hype. ๐ค
If (proverbial) we want to make "corn pudding" then we should make corn pudding and leave it at that. ๐ But no joke, NE maple syrup is incredible...and why they try to put it in EVERYTHING. heh
Trying any food item once -- remember that meme @Maude posted? That one works, but is there a Southern US variant with squirrel and snapping turtle and rattlesnake? ๐
Related -- @Bix says he's not a fan of Marmite and @JoyfullyDazed hates hummus. Anything you'd rule out? ๐ค
@InUnfunky @CinnamonGirlE @Maude @JoyfullyDazed
Toast, butter, then yeast paste is pretty good. The Aussie at work showed me.
@Bix @CinnamonGirlE @Maude @JoyfullyDazed
WHAT THE HELL, BRO
It was the accent, wasn't it.
WASN'T IT!??
HOW COULD YOU? ๐ ๐
@InUnfunky @Maude @Bix @JoyfullyDazed
I detest any kind of liver. My mom would every so often do liver and onions, which was disgusting. But she also liked chicken livers. ๐คข
I can remember squirrel on the dining room table as a small child. But i Never ate it!๐ฑ
How about you?
@CinnamonGirlE @InUnfunky @Maude @Bix @JoyfullyDazed
I can't even be in the same house while it's cooking. The smell is awful
@Idissent @InUnfunky @Maude @Bix @JoyfullyDazed
I can attest to having never fixed or eaten since leaving my mothers. Nope. ๐
@CinnamonGirlE @Idissent @Maude @Bix @JoyfullyDazed
Mmmmm, iron-y. heh
I can beat that, though.
Let my mistake be a lesson! ๐
If you ever decide to make a Greek-style cod bake with toms, kalamatas, feta, etc and get lazy by using regular fresh cod instead of the REQUIRED salt cod, well...don't.
And be prepared to deploy MANY cans of Lysol when airing out the house. WHEWWWWW ๐ฎ ๐
@InUnfunky @Idissent @Maude @Bix @JoyfullyDazed
I have never made a Greek style cod bake, lol. But I will keep that in mind. ๐ฌ๐ณ๐
@CinnamonGirlE @Idissent @Maude @Bix @JoyfullyDazed
Lol yep โ thereโs a reason you either deep fry cod OR smother it in white wine, lemon, butter, and bread crumbsโฆand now Iโm hungry. ๐
@InUnfunky @Idissent @Maude @Bix @JoyfullyDazed
Me too, just made some tea. That will have to suffice for now, lol.
@CinnamonGirlE @Maude @Bix @JoyfullyDazed
That's an affirmative to both.
(Although with the next bit of info I am bragging to the retired NP in you so watch out...๐ค)
Gimme a few to think about what I wouldn't eat out of principle...now or in the past. Cuz since '18 I (again, cuz once vegetarian) stopped eating our mammalian relatives thus causing my cholesterol level to shock and astound any medical person who reads my bloodwork report. ๐
Oh, I know! I refuse to eat fast food. ๐
@InUnfunky @Maude @Bix @JoyfullyDazed
I only ever eat fast food if I am caught out on the road far from home and can't take time to locate something.
I have had vegan patients, and its a healthy lifestyle as long as you are getting your proteins in other ways.
And it is for sure awesome for lipids; again if you aren't eating other crap, lol.
