"...plaintiffs had argued that the rule would force schools to allow transgender students to use restrooms and locker rooms..."
The thing is, when trans kids try to use their assigned-at-birth gender's restroom, they get beat up.
"... and [force] faculty to use transgender students' pronouns, that correspond to their gender identities."
So when a student declares their preferred pronoun is "he," a professor has to respect that? The horror!

Highlight of three days camping in Dosewallips State Park: a herd of elk slowly rambling in to graze, one by one settling down to chew their cud, almost within spitting distance. An 11-year-old girl there with us was afraid they would charge, and to be fair I wouldn't want to tangle with anything that big with hooves and antlers -- but after repeatedly moving to go she settled down and watched them, charmed. There were mares, young bucks, an 8-point stag, and a couple of nursings.
How to confirm your voter registration status

BREAKING: U.S. Hits 1 Million Daily COVID-19 Infections
Recent wastewater surveillance data indicates that daily COVID-19 infections in the U.S. have soared to 1 million.
In light of this surge, individuals in areas with newly implemented mask bans are urged to use exemption letters to continue wearing masks.
Masking remains crucial as repeated infections heighten the risk of severe outcomes, including Long COVID, and is especially important for those with medical vulnerabilities.

A fiddle teacher at the Cascadia Irish music workshop last week mentioned that while his adult students learn tunes more easily in chunks of 2-4 measures, his kids have no need for (or patience with) that. They want the whole tune at once.
I think what's behind that is that adults are so used to having things in logical patterns they get so they can't absorb things any other way, while children have to deal with heaps of apparently arbitrary events all the time, so they're used to it.
Color me surprised: we might actually get a two-party contest for governor in November. I didn't think Republican Dave Reichert had a chance, shows what I know.
I'm glad (I think), because a moderate Democrat would be harder for Bob Ferguson to beat (I think). Also because the moderate Dem that Ferguson might face is, IMHO, just a Libertarian masquerading as a Dem. Also, if a not-so-MAGA Repub wins in the primary, maybe the WA GOP will get a clue. (*Maybe.*)

My only problem with Sarah Waters is that she doesn't write her novels as fast as I read them.
