My phone suddenly went blank the other evening. Turned out to be a broken screen, thanks to my habit of sitting on it. Would have replaced it, it's pretty old, but a with a broken screen it was worthless for trade-in. Got it fixed instead, for not too much $ -- but now it won't charge. Sigh. Rinse, repeat.

So England just tossed out the conservative party in a landslide. Come on, people, if England can do it, so can we. Vote blue straight down the ballot in November 💪

Donald J Trump and his people are essentially Red Teaming the shit out of checks and balances, institutions, norms, the Constitution... an entire nation. They're looking for footholds, holes, vulnerabilities in all of it.

And they're finding them.

Now that's fine and all IF THE BLUE TEAM AND SECURITY ENGINEERING PEOPLE DO THEIR JOB AND MITIGATE THE THREATS FOUND.

If they don't, the whole original idea, concept, experiment WILL be compromised and WILL come crashing down.

Happy Pride.

Today's the ninth anniversary of Obergefell v Hodges, which recognized every couple's right to marry. If you're a same-sex couple, or are linked to one some other way (and you probably are) happy anniversary!

On June 23, 1947, The Labor Management Relations Act of 1947 – more commonly known as the Taft-Hartley Act – becomes a federal law when Congress overrides President Harry Truman’s veto. The law prohibited a variety of strikes, boycotts, and picketing; union shops were restricted and states were allowed to pass “right-to-work” laws that outlawed closed union shops. Here are the roots of the many anti-labor platforms of several Republican Party candidates for the U.S. presidency.

Went to the dentist for three small gumline fillings. Not halfway through he asks his collaborating dentist "How'd they miss that one?" ("They"--i.e., him, it's a small practice.) OK, four.
"How about the teeth on the other side, that you were going to schedule later? We have the time now, save yourself a trip."
Uh...it took me years to accumulate the willpower to schedule this phase...but we may as well get it over with.
So eight small fillings in less than an hour. Upper lip still numb.

@LiberalLibrarian Ignore the polls, vote like it’s the apocalypse if Trump wins.

I never thought I'd get this one -- it's all movie titles, and I don't keep up with those. But it turned out I didn't have to know anything about the movies themselves; all I needed was apprehension of superficial resemblance -- no problem there!

"We all know, intuitively, that a lot of illegals are voting in federal elections, but it's not been something that is easily provable."

People doing things arbitrarily never admit it--except to themselves, and even that's rare.

Washington is absolutely bonkers in some ways. There are 28 people running for governor -- at least four times as many as for any other office, though there's a candidate for US Senate who calls himself "Goodspaceguy" and that's got to count for something.
I'll call it today: the two who go on to the general will be Bob Ferguson and Mark Mullet, both Democrats (though the latter is really a libertarian).
