HiPOD 12 May 2023: Layers of Galle
This observation is an extension of existing coverage of an unusual layered mound in Galle Crater. Imaging of the well-exposed unconformities within the stratigraphy may help indicate modes of deposition. As the layers within this mound are fine-scaled and often subtle, this site will benefit from the highest resolution. Galle is also known as the “happy face crater.”

HiPOD 11 May 2023: To Survey a Ridge
Studying unmapped ridges across Mars can help us determine the depositional setting of these formations. Identifying these types of fluvial ridges outside of craters is key for reconstructing ancient sedimentary basins. Channel deposits in basins are one of the key elements used to constrain ancient climate, water discharge, and base-level changes.

HiRISE 4K: Geology of a Crater Floor
This cutout features a section of a larger and unnamed impact crater on the northwestern side. What is striking are the numerous small hills and layers running across the scene.

HiPOD 10 May 2023: Faults and Folds along Hebes Mensa
Our objective here is to document and investigate possible faulting and folds within these beautiful stratified sediments. Additionally, we can measure bedding offsets along the fault and distinguish topography from albedo (reflectivity) and detect possible compositional variations. Hebes Mensa, a flat-topped prominence with cliff-like edges, is located within Hebes Chasma, part of Valles Marineris.
HiClip mini 4K: Enigmatic
This observation shows us enigmatic smooth material, usually occurring in depressions.
This is a non-narrated clip with ambient sound.
HiRISE 3D: On the Origin of Channels
The objective of this observation is to examine the start of channels on an old crater floor. These may have formed due to sapping.

HiPOD 9 May 2023: Possible Inverted Channels
Context Camera images show possible inverted channels in this region. This fan is very old by comparison to the feature to the northeast of the same massif. What is the change in fan texture between the two fan-forming episodes?

HiPOD 8 May 2023: Follow the Threads
This observation targets three exposures of light-toned materials with a sinuous outcrop pattern. These long, narrow outcrops appear to have formed parallel to the topographic gradient between degraded crater rim materials and a ridged plain surface. In addition, they may be related to other light-toned materials with similar patterns seen elsewhere in Terra Cimmeria.

HiRISE 3D: A Recent Crater
This crater looked (geologically) fresh in a Context Camera image, and we see at higher resolution that the feathery ejecta pattern is still visible.

HiPOD 5 May 2023: Lava Plains near Claritas Fossae
This image shows a rough, sand-dune like terrain. This could’ve possibly been caused by lava flow creating lava plains, or it could be due to the process where winds could transport, erode, or deposit sand material to new places causing this dune effect. Claritas Fossae is a group of troughs located to the south of Tharsis Montes.

HiRISE 8K: Cracks in the Surface
In this cutout, a few relatively deep depressions, partly filled with dark sand, are visible in the region known as Cerberus Fossae. These are pit craters formed by collapse as normal faulting progressed.

HiPOD 4 May 2023: Ridges in Lycus Sulci
This image shows a group of curved ridges in an area called Lycus Sulci, which is located near the Olympus Mons volcano. Much of the rocks in this area have been subjected to erosion (e.g., scouring and removal) by the wind, so that the surface we see today was originally buried deep underground.
