HiPOD 12 Sept 22: A Deflated Rampart Crater in Hephaestus Fossae

A rampart crater is a specific kind of impact crater that displays an ejecta with a low ridge along its edge. This is referred to as “fluidized ejecta,” and is found mainly on Mars. The diameter of the crater can be used to infer the excavation depth, while new craters on the ejecta can reveal the age of the larger impact.
