It's like assembling three jigsaw puzzles of Jackson Pollock paintings at the same time, while all the pieces are in one box, and there are no edge pieces... Did I just drop a piece? I wonder where they make these puzzles at anyway? Do you think they sell a lot? I mean I know Jackson Pollock is famous and all, but how many people need a jigsaw puzzle of his paintings?Europeans once used mummies to make paint with. That reminds me of a movie I once saw. I just know I dropped a piece

I wonder if it went behind my chair. I bet you could use the same technology from the gator grip sockets on tv, to make a device that picks up puzzle pieces. Probably conform perfectly to the shape and everything.

Okay, calm down. We really need to pay attention to this, Oh, shit! My wife was counting on me, but I forgot to take the trash out this morning. I'm so stupid!

@spacesloth

Did my boss say I need to meet with them tomorrow at 9:15 or 9:30? I wonder if Steve is going to that meeting too. Maybe I can check with himv during lunch. Why doesn't Steve's team have to put together puzzles like we do? Anyway, the puzzle. I'm doing a pretty good job. Look at all the pieces I've got together. I'm so smart.
Let me check my phone and see if I have any updates or notifications. Oh that actor I like died. I have to remember to set aside time to watch that movie.

@spacesloth

This can cause problems at home too.
In the RPG Vampire, the Masquerade, we had a name for this. It was called the Malkavian Filter, and not surprisingly, I've always been good at applying it. Because it, like ADHD, is a Thought Disorder.

This page (my apologies in advance for your eyes) has a great breakdown of how it works, but unless you have Schizophrenia, you stop before you hit the last step.

Then there's the Executive Dysfunction, Hyper focus and Time Blindness...factor in the Choice Paralysis and a touch of Object Permanence issues, and you're just about there...

I do the "forgot to eat" thing sometimes. Not diagnosed ADHD but my son is. I wonder sometimes if I have it too, these descriptions feel very relatable.

All the examples I gave happen in rapid-fire fashion, in approximately 10 seconds.

ADHD and Autism are genetic, so if your biological child has ADHD, there's only two places they could've gotten it, y'know? πŸ˜…

Sigh.

Yeah.

I know you're right. And I also doubt it's their dad, that sweet man is the textbook definition of stable and methodical and calm.

You would be very surprised. I recommend you both get tested. Some of the people who fit those descriptions best, have ADHD. Often times, it's because they received earlier intervention, treatment, and learned coping mechanisms sooner so that they can minimize the impact on their lives.

It is definitely something you can learn to manage, but it’s like managing a wound that won’t stop bleeding. Yes, you can put a bandage on it but eventually you’re going to want a doctor to give you something to fix it.

One day I’ll see about having it stop bleeding.

You know what really sucks? The forgetting to pee part. That will ruin your whole day.

So I've heard.

@spacesloth @Heucuva8 ADHD is the universe’s way of ensuring two things:

1) That I don’t attain nirvana.
2) That I don’t become dictator of the world.
