Tank is a Shiloh Shepherd and his registered name is Ulysses S Grant (Grant won the Battle of Shiloh; there's a WWII tank named after Grant).

The photo session was to benefit the cemetery.

@USAPatriot Wisdom Panel considers him 100% GSD, but Embark recognizes the Shiloh Shepherd breed. The first Shilohs were bred from European lines. Some were bred with White Shepherds. The lines were picked for size and temperament (Shilohs are about 20% bigger and calmer than GSDs).

Malinois are usually smaller than GSDs, but they definitely have similarities.

Tank has a plush coat, but they also have smooth coated shilohs. Plush/long coats are disqualifying to GSDs.
