: I have always been quite, I dunno, perplexed that so many people continue to seem to be of the belief that in a democracy, a republic, or a democratic republic once some law is passed that it is permanent and that nobody would ever come along and via totally legal or legal-ish methods change or eliminate the law. I've thought that was weird since I was a kid and noticed it.
