This week, Keely and I check out some vintage Halloween candy: the good, the bad, and the unknown.

And I have to ask: has anyone ever had Horehound sanded drops? And if so, WHY? WHY would anyone think this was a good flavor for candy? 🤢

@GaryPoole
I've had horehound flavored candy back in a previous lifetime, but the "sanded" part is confusing me a bit...

Why sand? That's odd.

@GaryPoole
I hate it, but my mom loved it and had it as a kid. My grandma would always put it in our Christmas gift bags. The ones she put oranges and apples and nuts and other candy in. Yuck. But I least think of my mom when I see it.

😮 Had to look this up as I’d never heard of it and apparently it’s used to treat digestive problems. I’m sure there are lots of other options that don’t taste like licorice, mint, or root beer. 🤮
