It's a question people have asked about Ukraine, why not settle this war and give up 'a little' land for peace?

Native Americans gave up land for peace, they were exterminated.

Poland gave up land for peace with Germany, thousand of Jews were murdered and Polish men were conscripted for war.

France gave up land for peace to the English, and the English continued to attack for over a hundred years, wanting more.
