@GrandmaJ one zucchini was a little wind blown and my tree lost a lot of limbs, but everything else did fine. It feels like we're having an abundance of severe weather this year! I'm a little over it.

@yogapaddlerun Good morning! Let the coffee flow and may Friday bring wonderful things

@Helical_Code I usually only get one or two a year. This year has been...special...and I'm not sure why. Submittal #1 has gone back into internal review!!!

Big boomy storms!! I won't know the damage to the garden until the sun comes up. I passed kidney stone #6 of the year this morning so that feels better. It'll be a good day to binge and knock out 15 hours of work. Only one of the two submittals can go out the door today. The owner changed the design for the second submittal on Wednesday. I still need to get it *almost* finished.

My brain is mush. It makes even simple tasks feel monumental. Hopefully just one more day of this and then I can take a break.

Two more days to wrap up the submittals for this work week and then I can go back to posting about the important things like how big my spaghetti squash are getting, I'm finally getting my first produce out of the , my flowers are all in bloom, and my zinnias in my wishing well planter have spouted. This weekend is also round 2 of gutters and we've decided to build another garden bed for fall planting. My SO does not stop moving. Eight pounds down on the diet.

Whew! Two more days to get these design submittals packaged up and out the door. I'm going to crash this weekend. Submittal weeks are exhausting.

Today may be overwhelmingly noisy on an emotional spectrum as people try to come to terms with what happened yesterday. There will be anger. There will be grief. There will be resignation. There will be sadness. It's ok to disconnect. Today, I am thankful that I can bury my head in my work and think about boring things like lateral earth pressures and axial resistance calcs

Tuesday is the day we take the statistical evaluations that we ran on Monday and we supersede them with better data that we've had all along. Ahhh the hoops we jump through to comply with process requirements. Maybe this afternoon we can do actual calculations.

@Helical_Code I think they also appreciate knowing that I'm not sugar coating any issues that they might discover later on in the process.

@Helical_Code I completely understand. I find that a little bit of profanity helps me get my point across to the client in a clear and concise manner. For example, "your site is sh!t" is much more impactful than "your site has issues," and "absof*ckinglutely do not do what you are planning" is a pretty clear indication of whether or not I'm willing to sign off on something. There's usually some shock when the tiny middle aged woman starts belting out cuss words like a sailor, but they adapt.

@Helical_Code 😂 The joke around the office is that all of my passwords are probably some combination of swear words. My use of profanity is on par with my contractors.

@Helical_Code Normally, these small adjustments would be easily handled because we don't do this level of mathematical analyses for parameters that are based largely on empirical correlations, and changing one sample at one depth does not significantly affect an entire analysis location. In this case, I am required to do the analysis whether or not I agree with the approach. My hands were tied before I started this design.

@Helical_Code Unfortunately, the records already exist and I have to include them. It's more a matter of people making adjustments to how samples are classified based on interpretation and engineering judgement. Some of it is fixing actual errors made by other engineers that weren't caught previously. A lot of this stems from having too many engineers working on one design.

If I ever find the person who thought a statistical evaluation of this data was appropriate, I'm going to kick them in the shins until I wear holes in the toes of my steel toed boots. Every time a sample is added, removed, or modified I have to start over and it doesn't have a significant impact on the final result. Time waste. GRRRRRR 😠

@Helical_Code Yes! thank you for that reminder (I'm looking at you...doctor who failed to mention that daily aspirin should not be taken on an empty stomach). I'll do some stretching and go for a run later to loosen up.

@GrandmaJ Ah fingers crossed it isn't too stressful for him (or you) and that results are good.

@Helical_Code Good morning! This is so true :) I worked on gutters instead. They look fabulous and my body is broken. Now my body can heal while my brain goes back to work. Hopefully, I'm mentally better for the break because that Friday submittal deadline is non-negotiable :/
