I don't know who needs to hear this (well, actually I do, but no need to mention names), but links to YouTube videos no longer load a thumbnail or title here.
If you post a link that just says, "This is great," "Huge news," "Worth the listen," or "❤️ ," most people aren't going to click. Give us a little more to go on. We don't have time to open every link.
Is there a reason the thumbnail had to go away?
@Sr0bi
I suspect it relates to the fact that if videos play here, YouTube ads and autoplay don't function. J has been fighting to make it work again, but no joy so far.
@EileenKCarpenter
"fighting to make it work" Cool.
Google or MS would point me at a page where others asked the same question, didn't get a reply and the thread is now locked - except for likes of course.
@EileenKCarpenter i tend find that people who post those sorts of 'descriptions' have an agenda and are pushing it on people. There are a dozen or so people on here who I would click on their link with those descriptions...except I doubt those people would ever post such a description.
Yeah, I have noticed a lot of them are low-quality videos, like some unknown guy talking about a video of something that happened, rather than the primary source itself. Maybe he's worth listening to, but they've given me no reason to invest time finding out.
But sometimes it's people posting interesting things they want to be a little surprising, and they're not realizing that the particular choice of words they post to describe it isn't giving people a reason to click.
@EileenKCarpenter
This! ⬆️
Cuz I just scroll on by otherwise
@EileenKCarpenter when people post links to music on YouTube if they don't say who it is and the name of the piece of music then I'm definitely not going to click on it.
@EileenKCarpenter Oh Eileen! We are kindred spirits! Grinds my gears something chronic 🤣🤣
