I enjoyed this video about becoming a better photographer.
Among other things, it discusses the four levels of photography:
1️⃣Unconscious incompetence
2️⃣Conscious incompetence
3️⃣Conscious competence
4️⃣Unconscious competence
I'll be happy and satisfied if I can get to level three. I've been at level two for a while (even before I purchased some decent gear).
Here's another video with tips for better photos. It discusses photo composition and camera angles.
The overarching theme of this video (and some of his others) is to move beyond just 'taking snapshots' to taking quality photos.
I'm finding the 'technical' skills/aspects (such as focus, aperture, shutter speed, etc) easier to improve upon than creative/artistic skills like composition, camera angles, and framing.
With decent gear, I'm taking better snapshots than I did with my phone or 'point N shoot' cameras. 🙂
But they're still just snapshots.
Here's one of the first shots I took recently at a pumpkin patch. I got out of the car, and it was 'point N shoot'.
The pic is sort of memorable to me...because I was there and experienced it.
But it's really kinda boring. 🙁
