This is so painful. It's been running for 12 hours (in a test environment). Based on existing table data, it would be an empty partition. I was hoping the operation we be a near-instant meta data only change. 😦

Sigh. In 20+ years, I have never used SQL Server table partitioning in production. Do I really want to start now? 🤷‍♂️
