Maybe we need to encourage the patriots to do some actual genealogy. It's a genuinely stark and reality based endeavor. 🤔

Yep. To the point that some supremacist groups were purifying themselves out of members, so have discouraged "pureblood" testing. 😉
I spent several years helping great aunts do research and the real fun is in the attics, basements, and dark corners.
"Is this grave over here related?"
"Yes, that's your second cousin first removed's third wife."
"Wait... third? What?"
"Yes. The fancy woman."
"Wait. WHAT?"
Then you pull out your chart to figure out cousin relationships...

My favorite one came when I went diving into a particularly gnarly tree. We finally gave up and took a trip to ask about some of the anomalies we had found.
Well, where we thought there were some misfiled marriages/deaths, we discovered a happily fraternal polyandrous family who had engaged in serial marriages and divorces and taken mom's name to simplify things and keep it legal for their kids.
