A power outage (this is how you know it is Texas) caused the water pressure at a purification plant to drop below safe levels. Houston is on a boil water notice, which doesn't sound bad until you see what that means. After you read the article, consider how many other boil/unsafe water stories you have read.

Here's an idea, let's start with clean, safe water and branch from there. 💦

Think of the time to boil all the water you and your family and pets use. Think of the cost (if you can find any) of bottled water. Think of the single use plastics consumed. Additional power/water usage to boil and flush lines. Lost work and school time.

Semi-related side note: Pretty much everyone should have 2-3 days of water stored per person with additional water for pets. Not a bad idea to also have Lifestraws and purification tablets with your emergency kit. You don't have to invest in specific use containers, any plastic food grade container will work (vinegar jugs are perfect). Solid article below on long term water storage.
