@KrystalWizard The Catholic Church has been leading the pro-life wagon since before Roe v. Wade. It is evangelical protestants who used to be neutral, but have become fanatically anti-abortion.

You may recall that in 1960 three American-born bishops in Puerto Rico issued a statement forbidding Catholics from voting for candidates who disagreed with the Church on abortion and birth control. This damaged JFK's campaign.

The church has always been involved in politics.
