Huge Bradbury fan but early on I heard the bad buzz about this version and avoided it. Several people I know did watch and said I made the correct choice.
@kbsez There's something about the look of those 70's - early 80's science fiction films, more so because of their being remastered in 1080p - the colours pop. I have a loathing of the unsightly orange and teal colour grading and lens fair that's smeared over some movie and TV these days (curse you Michael Bay and JJ Abrams). 😅
@kbsez I might just do that; been some time since I last watched it - and not in HD. I did buy Forbidden Planet on Blu-ray a while back, and wow!

Watch the George Pal Time Machine. Damn, the colors and look - freaking brilliant and beautiful film.
