Not necessarily. I used red highlights for a long time. I have never really tried blonde. And it is something, at least highlights, that I would like to do before I finally quit coloring for good.
My dtr is red head. She colors it, normally blonde. It is fabulous.

@CinnamonGirlE

Love them all. But, which one is closest to your base color? If possible, bring the pictures with you when you go and the colorist can help you find the best one based on your base color and skin tones.

@Spagesgallo1
One of my besties does my hair. I will send them. She takes good care of me. 😊✂️

@CinnamonGirlE

That awesome! Then you have no worries! She will help you with getting the right shade of highlights best suited for you. A good friend who is a hairdresser used to cut and color my hair too! We actually worked together in her brother's salon. Then she moved to Florida. I had a challenging time finding another good hairdresser. I finally did and then we moved! But, I found a really good one on my 2nd try! Enjoy and have fun! 😊💇‍♀️

@Spagesgallo1
Thanks Steph! 😊❣️ don't know what I will do when she retires. Maybe then I will go gray 😉

@CinnamonGirlE

Oh, I hear you! It stinks to lose a good hairdresser!😢 When the time comes, you will know what to do. Yeah, maybe you will then make the choice to go natural! Until then, you have time! 😊♥️

@Spagesgallo1
The second one is closest my natural hair color. Although now I have some gray as well.

@CinnamonGirlE

Then go with that one! Do you also have color done on your base? That will cover the gray. If not, the highlights will help to camouflage the gray. I used to have my base colored, because I am REALLY white on top with salt and pepper on the rest. The colorist then added highlights. I stopped coloring during the height of the pandemic. I love my gray hair, but I sometimes miss not having it colored. I just don't miss the process! 🤣

@Spagesgallo1
Wish I had done that during Covid. My mom had the most beautiful salt and pepper. I just thought "I am too young!" lol. I will bring the pics and choose a few dimensions for texture.

@CinnamonGirlE

I know what you mean! I felt the same way. My mom had gorgeous gray hair too. I really couldn't take looking like a skunk. I was on medical leave so I bought a buzzer and buzzed my hair off into a pixie. It took 2 haircuts to reach my natural color and then I let it grow out. That is a great idea to bring the pictures. It always helps. Oh, have fun! It's always exciting to get a new look!

@CinnamonGirlE

I would suggest that you still bring the pictures with you. The colorist can help determine which color highlights will look best with your skin tone. The colorist can also do more than one shade of highlights. It really gives the haircolor dimension.

@CinnamonGirlE

2, mostly for the hairstyle, but i like the contrast/blend as well

@richquaal
Very similar to what I currently have, and I like it too. Maybe a little more highlighting.

@LnzyHou @richquaal
Whichever one covers my gray! At least a little while longer, lol.

@CinnamonGirlE @richquaal

It’s a tough decision to stop coloring. And one that takes long time to see the results.

I quit coloring when I decided to go on the road. Then Covid which allowed me to hide even longer.

No regrets now.

@LnzyHou @richquaal
I have threatened it for a few years now. I just feel like it will leave me looking washed out and need make up every day. Now that I am retired, I don't do that.

@CinnamonGirlE @richquaal

I get it. My entire color palette changed. Not only did my make up change (rarely worn), I was lifelong fall with earth tones wardrobe. Never wore gray, pink, jewel tones, navy blue etc. Earth tones are gone.

But for the first time in my life, strangers are telling me how much they love my hair. That NEVER happened during the decades I colored it. Thousands of dollars could have been saved. I started going gray at 21.

Who knew?

@LnzyHou @richquaal
Your hair is fabulous. I would never color again if that were mine. I am sure if I used the right shampoo, right cut, etc, gray would be okay. It sure would be nice to quit worrying about it and it isn't cheap either. As any woman who colors knows.

@CinnamonGirlE bottom right. Seems to suit your user name closer :)
