@ChippySuave
Wow!
I voted in GA yesterday, and we drove about 20 minutes to the open early voting place, stood in line (outside) for 45 minutes, filled out a paper, went to the table where the lady checked our ID, and then voted, and put our paper in the machine thing.
We did not 1.) have to pay to park 2.) wait that long or 3.) get the multiple "are you sure" questions he describes.
We're white and suburban. He very likely lives intown, if he had to pay to park. 😟 This is discouraging.
@ChippySuave
I don't remember the perjury warnings... did we even have those??? I honestly don't know. I think we just signed a paper saying we're us and eligible to vote.
It was a pain, but it wasn't that big a pain.
It needs to be easier, period.
@ChippySuave
Is it possible the voting process is dramatically different in different counties? Maybe his machine had the perjury prompts and mine didn't.
@janallmac I read some comments after the post and some people said that their own counties which trend republican had almost no wait times. But certain counties, such as Dekalb, had long lines.
@ChippySuave
The long lines are a big problem.
The lines/wait times affect poorer, younger people with jobs far more than older, richer, retired people.
Plus the oldest folks get to skip the line!!!
My county trends blue, but I live in a reddish area.
The farther out from the city you go, the redder it gets, and I'd bet you a million dollars the shorter the lines are.
It is a form of voter suppression.
But... turnout is good. That's a good thing, that's one reason the lines are so long.
@ChippySuave
It's possible fewer republicans are voting in this particular election.
Maybe.
Walker is not the best candidate, and they know it.
Possible, but I'm not holding my breath.
@ChippySuave WTF?! That’s awful.
@ChippySuave What the actual fuck? That sounds completely NOT like voting…
