A new Iowa bill would roll back child labor laws, allowing 14 to 17-year-olds to work in mining, meatpacking, demolition, operating guillotine shears, and other dangerous jobs. Under the business-backed bill, employers wouldn't be civilly liable if kids are injured or killed.
The new Iowa bill would also lift a ban on 14 and 15-year-olds working in freezers and meat coolers, and allow kids as young as 14 1/2 to drive themselves to work.

Just finished watching Henry Louis Gates Jr. "Reconstruction." Chilling to see the similarities between the period covered in the series and present day: voter repression, book banning and blatant racism. Please watch. Available online or from a local public library.

Finally finished. Beautiful pattern. Highly recommended. I didn't find any errors or weird directions and the colorwork wasn't awful. Only a couple of places where you have to weave in the floats.

Used Valley Yarns Northampton and it was a nice knit. No knots or splices. Although I really can't see this as worsted. I got pattern gauge as DK.

Today is Ronald Reagan’s birthday, so let’s remind everyone that he was a horrendous ghoul who began the destruction of America by ending the Fairness Doctrine, lowering taxes on the rich, suppressing green energy, tripling the national debt, & embracing trickle down theory.

Parents, take note: when you or your kids harsh on an individual woman who uses plastic surgery to look younger, take a moment to ask how the culture, the system, the society (you pick your word) is shaping that woman’s choice. Teach your kids to be critical of the system, not the person.

I wish we could have seen a headline like this: “Fans ‘so confused’ by culture that pressures women into elective, painful surgeries just to make music.’”
